When I won her giveaway before Christmas, Claire (of Polkadot-Pretties) not only sent me the materials needed to make her wreath, she also included a bunch of thoughtful little extras, things she knew I'd like: a little owl cross stitch, some cute fabric featuring woodland creatures (including owls!), and finally a scrap of lovely linen(?) material with sweet little cats prancing around Paris.
I finally got around to using the cats & Paris fabric at the end of last week. It was just the right size to make 2 pin-cushions, so I decided to use Claire's own pin-cushion tutorial for inspiration.
With some contrasting material on the back and a loop of vintage ribbon (polkadot, of course!) this was a simple little project that has already been incredibly useful! (I am keeping the second one as a gift for an as-yet-unknown recipient)
I am surprised to find how much I enjoy having a pretty pin-cushion beside me as I sew. My previous methods of sticking them into the sofa or keeping them in my mouth represented a serious safety hasard, especially with a toddler around the house!
Of course I'm linking up with Claire for this one :)
p.s. I haven't made the wreath yet - I think it will be just lovely for Easter!p.p.s. don't forget to enter this wonderful giveaway (running until midnight EST on 7th March) to win a one-of-a-kind, handmade owl by artist Ashlie Blake!
