dry grass & shadows

Is that an owl feather in her hand?!

Tonight my husband and I are going to see Alela Diane at our local gig venue, The Junction.

You know those things you discover and they just take your breath away with their beautiful simplicity? Alela Diane's music is one of those things.

For your pleasure, here's a live, intimate version of my favourite song, 'Dry Grass and Shadows'. Perhaps I will write about the gig tomorrow.

ok girl, you are a rad. 1. I love your blog. 2. Alela Diane is from my hometown! Same high school and all that jazz. I am from a tiny town called Nevada City in California. Do you like Joanna Newsom? She is from my home town too. Also, check out Mariee Sioux. shes friends with Joanna and Alela and I love her music, and I just love her. She is the nicest.

Now Mariee Sioux is a new one for me - thanks so much, & keep the beautiful music coming! I never realised they all knew each other & came from Nevada City... Alela and Joanna are relatively new discoveries for me, and with Joanna I still have a lot of exploring to do...

I love your blog too & will be visiting regularly! Clearly your tiny town is a hub of creativity. I already have an alluring americana fantasy image of it in my English head!

haha well my town is extremely unique and unlike most of America I would say. I grew up in England and still have dreamy mind wanderings that end up with me imagining I am there again. But if you dig these girls, and you dig my blog, sometime in your life you should really get yourself over to the North West. northern california (not southern. its horrible and fake and gross there) Oregon, and Washington. I live in Seattle, Washington now and it is like a city version of my tiny amazing hometown.
